I keep checking the filter to make sure there aren't any shrimp who were unlucky enough to venture close to the intake, but I'd rather prevent it from happening than have to fish the shrimp out of the filter on a regular basis. Any suggestions?
Very simple. Fluval makes a sponge filter that goes over the intake. You should be able to find one at a fish store, like PetSmart, PetCo or others. It is black, and has a hole in the middle. I have an AquaClear and it does fit on the intake. You could also just take a filter media bag and tie it on to the intake - perhaps not as attractive, but would do the trick.
