They are called "red crabs" and I believe they are indigenous to southeast Asia. They only really require the ability to reach the surface and stay above water for a bit of time. I have housed these two crabs in my tank for a few months now, and for the most part, they have gotten along with my fish just fine. For some reason, however, they have gone on some sort of crabicidal rampage in the past day or so... thank you for your reply; I am thinking of some sort of barricade in the tank now...
My only real question is: Why are they eating my fish all of a sudden? are the fish weak? Are the crabs growing larger and requiring more nutrition? Have the crabs become blood thirsty? Its all very interesting. I plan on letting nature take its course--I suppose.
