Question about feeding my snail

I am considering getting a mystery snail for my tank, and in an effort to keep it from eating my plants I understand I would need to feed it algae pellets. I was wondering how often I would need to feed and would I need to worry about my fish eating the pellets before my snail does? Thanks!

I haven't had any luck getting them to munch on algae wafers, but I have with shrimp pellets. Place the snail right on the pellet to assure it isn't outcompeted for food.
