Okay, this might be a stupid question..... I never see people mention Prawns as aquarium pets--maybe they taste too good  --but then it occured to me that I wasn't entirely sure what a Prawn was. Is it a shrimp? A crayfish? Is it something else? Fresh or brackish water?
Thanks!

prawns are shrimp! :D i had one once and it was sooo cool. unfortunately mine grew QUITE LARGE and started grabbing at my fish :( i had to return him to the store. i miss him though he was the best. i kept mine in freshwater and i believe that is what they are supposed to be kept in. i'm not sure about brackish though. :? but yes prawns are shrimp.

Ah, cool, thank you very much! Sounds like a really neat experience. Did he get any fish or was he just getting too close for comfort?

So is it longarm shrimp that are aka Prawns, or are Prawns well.... they're just Prawns and part of the shrimp family of crust.? Can you suggest any place that sells or breeds them? I suppose an aqua food farm might be one place to try, but not optimal....

Thanks again!

no he didnt actually get any of the fish yet, but i was getting worried. :blueshake:

i THINK they are just prawns, but i could be wrong. when i bought mine he was just labeled as prawn so i assume thats what they are called. i got mine from my LFS. they dont always have them though. if your LFS doesnt already have them you could ask the store to order some for you. i dont think they are that hard to get.
