I'm concerned about my Olive Nerite snail, Callahan. He's just gone above the water line. I have had him for exactly one year today, and I have never seen him do this. I'm concerned. Right now he's gone partially back underwater, so he's half in and half out. He has tucked his antennae close to his body, and he isn't moving his mouth or anything else at all. Is this something Nerites do when they are sick? Its only been going on for about 15 minutes so far, but like I said I've never seen him do this. I tested the water, Ammonia is at 0, Nitrites are at 0, Nitrates are at 5 ppm, pH is 7.8. Temperature is 80 degrees. He was eating, laying eggs, and cleaning the glass like normal up till now.

Oh, he's starting to go back down now, and his antennae are back out. And he's cleaning the glass like normal, I can see his mouth moving. I guess I overreacted there. I don't know why he would suddenly do something like that...stupid snail scared me. He's my little snail buddy.
I got him when he was a little snail, and his shell was all cracked and pitted, and I've nursed him back to health so he's gotten big and strong, and you could never tell now there was anything ever wrong with his shell.
But does anyone know why he would suddenly decide he wanted to be above the water, after living with me for a year and never going up there?
