Hey, I was just wondering if you could assist me in telling me what kind of snail this is. I never purchased any snails before and after looking into my tank yesterday i found a few new comers that just seemed to appear although I am guessing there were small eggs attached to the live plant I have.

Those are pond snails. They're a good indicator of whether you overfeed... If they explode in population, you've overfeeding your fish.

Other than that, they're beneficial and will nibble on algae.
