Nerite Snails!!

So I'm very interested in a nerite snail, with one, or both, of my betta(s). But I'm confused on nerite snails themselves.

With water needs, will it work out?
How will I tell if my nerite will be hungry or starving?
If I put in a wafer, or vegetable (I'll look more into that, no worries), will it overfeed itself? Or just stop when it's full?
When siphoning out water, is it okay with them inside as long as I don't get them?
If you've had personal experience with them, I'd love extra tips on them! And anything worth mentioning is great too. Thank you!

Very good algae eaters. I would recommend keeping any snail in water with a pH above 7.0 to prevent shell erosion. You can't really tell if the snail is hungry so just keep it well-fed. They'll eat algae but will also eat things like algae wafers and vegetables like spinach or romaine lettuce. They won't overeat so you don't need to worry about that. You can do your regular gravel vacs but just be careful not to suck up the snails!

Basically, snails are pretty easy to keep so long as you maintain good water quality and do your best to combat shell erosion.

Thank you very much. I'm really considering getting them soon. I may get one nerite and one mystery (I like some diversity, if you can go ahead and even call that diversity, lol). I wouldn't imagine anything going wrong between the two, correct?

Also, for mystery snails... they eat leftover food, right? Would they eat garlic? Occasionally I feed my bettas garlic (succesfully) but it breaks off sometimes - I only notice when I do water changes with a gravel vac. Unless it may hurt them?

I don't think garlic would be a problem. They'd probably enjoy it. I also don't see any problems with mixing nerite and mystery snails. Mystery snails will eat just about anything, including leftover food, algae (though they won't get your glass clean, really), vegetables, dead fish and plant leaves...pretty much anything.

Good to know, I have quite a bit of garlic down at the bottom... it's a scary thought when I see them flying up during the water change, lol.
And that's why I have (er, WILL have) the nerite snail - for the algae. I hear that's their specialty.

Much appreciated, I'm set on my decision now :)
