mine laid eggs all the tiem as well, clutch just dried out or rainbows ate it.

i know that the snails usually lay their eggs on land on the edge of the water were they can stay moist.

in teh aquarium though, this exposes them to the lights form the aquarium and in temps (at least in my tank) that are higher at the surface and dries them out

you will have to try different things.

I wouldn't do the fan option, that will make them dry out quicker. The wet paper towel or toilet paper is an excellent idea though.

Another I have read is where they remove the clutch all together and float it in the tank on styrofoam or a margarine tub lid. I can't see this working because if it is drying out at the rim of the tank, it will dry out at the center.

I would like to know the person that told you "weeks".

When inverts go into "survival mode" all bets are off. They can self reproduce or store sperm for a VERY long time.
