mystery snail and ph

I went to the LFS to get some crushed coral to raise the ph in my tank and couldn't resist getting a mystery snail as well.

Now that he's home and the bag is floating in the tank, I'm worried that I should have waited a bit before getting him.

The ph is at 6 (yikes!) and I've added crushed coral. How long will it take to start working?

If I put Mr. Snail in, will he just clamp up for a few days or will he just get fried?

What to do? What to do?

Well, for better or worse, I put him/her/it in the tank after acclimating it to the tank water. It's crawling around and has attached itself to the sponge filter. It's ignored the algae wafer I put in there, though the betta has been chomping down on it. LOL I might just siphon up the rest of the algae wafer so piggy doesn't get sick.[/list]

I wouldn't worry. you might need a lot of the crushed coral depending on your tank size but my tap water is 5.5 - 6 and I kept it evenly at 7.5 without any problem by having a substrate of crushed coral for my mysteries. I had a little under 1kg in an 8g tank.
