Is my snail ok?

Hi all. I am a new fishkeeper. I've had my tank up about 2 months. I have a golden apple/mystery snail. I love him (or her). I have a 20g with the snail and friendly community fish. None of them bother the snail that I have seen. I also have a few live plants. All my water params are good. About a month ago my tank has an ick breakout. I moved the snail to a 2 g tank by himself while I treated the 20 g with copper. After I rid the tank of ick AND copper I put him back in the 20 g.

My question is - before the ick outbreak he was very active. He was all over the 20g tank. Of course he would go inside the caves and rocks I have in the tank but I still saw him about the tank on a regular basis. Since I've put him back in the 20 g I never see him. For several days I did not see him and I looked under one of the large rocks and he was inside. Over the last 3 days I did see him come out once in the morning when I fed the fish. So I know he is not dead. I work from home, next to the tank so I am looking at all pretty much all day.

Is this normal? Are there any reasons why he may be less active now than before? I double checked for copper - i have a liquid copper test and there is no copper. I miss seeing him scootin around.

Thanks Kitten. It's been a couple of weeks at least he's been in the cave. I was thinking maybe algae built up in there while he was in the 2g and he's just been in there feeding. I hope he comes around.

What were the temps in the 2 g?

When snails are in warmer temperatures their metabolism goes up so they eat more, poop more, and move around more but they don't live as long as in colder temps but in colder everything slows down.

How long was he in the 2g?
Maybe he/she is adjusting?

Temps were about same 78-80 degrees for both tanks. It took him awhile to adjust but now he (or she) is back to normal. Thanks for the reply.
