I'm pretty sure the only reason they lose their blue coloration is due to stress. This could be caused by poor water quality, have you checked your parameters? Make sure you are testing with a liquid kit. Inverts are sensitive to poor water.

Hi Jenny

I am curious.. How is he doing with your fish. Everything I have read about these guys says they are peacefull and shouldn't bother all but the slowest moving fish, but fish keepers keep telling me the will kill all my fish.

I am asking is because the hammers cobalt is one of my highest wishlist fish!

like the person who posted above me, I have read they should not lose their color and if they do, it is usually due to stress.

Hope he is doing better

Hi Jadenlea, sadly i had to take my wee lobster back to the pet shop he got his colour back but on the process he destroyed my tank, snipped all the roots of my live plants ( which were not small) took over my large plecs cave and in the space of 2 weeks most of my fish had no tails and he had ripped shreads out of my plecs fins....i would love to have another one but think i would have one in its own tank with no one for him to bother.

Oh no :( That's a lot of mayhem for one lone little creature isn't it? You did the right thing by bringing him back.
Welcome to TFK
