How to encourage pond snails to breed?!?

I'm trying to breed some pond snails to feed my assassin snails. They're in a seperate .5g tank right now in the kitchen window. They nibbled on carrot but haven't touched the spinach and lettuce I put in last week. I had them for a couple weeks now. They get a lot of algae to eat (on the sides of the tank and on the slimy driftwood I gave them) and I also dropped in some bits of a 7day feeder for fish for calcium. These guys just have not laid eggs yet!!! It's driving me crazy!
I have 7 hungry assassins. (who get bloodworms and high protein fish food)
Any ideas?

Check the ph- Ideally, you want it in the mid to high 7's to keep their shells strong.

Next, simply feed them. They're not the biggest algae eaters... They prefer scavenging. Just regular fish food would probably be ideal. Might also be easier if you kept them in a barebottom or sand substrate tank. (food might squeeze in between gravel)
