Good starting number?

What is a good number of a smallish starting colony of Malaysian trumpet snails?

Well, you could start with one and after a while you'd have considerably more. They can reproduce on their own, so there's really no "minimum colony size" to get them started. The more you start with, the more quickly they'll reproduce, of course.
