I think that returning the snail, would be the best and easiest route. Very good of you to do, even though I am sure you will miss him.

i will definetely miss him, but at least hell have a fighting chance and id rather miss him an know he has a change t get better than watch him slowly die.

i took some water samples to the pet store, apparently the water coming into my house is not that hard since it only tested at 25ppm, the water in my tank is harder at 75ppm, other than tha the unsoftened water is what they recomend for the tank and the snail, they also recomended some calcium to add to the aquarium, i got a bottle of liquid calcium, i added it to the snails bowl i also told them that if he didnt seem to improve i was gonna bring him back and they told me that if he didnt at least start eating by tomorrow to bring him in and they would take him. and hopefully he would recover

If you do end up taking him in, at least (from the sounds of it) you have a really good LFS that will likely take good care of him.
