I love golden mystery snails! I have had one before, but I accidently killed it with chemicals. I wanted one for my cichlid tank. The tank is 10g with 1 (neon) Jewel Cichlid (Hemichromis Bemiculatus, exuse my spelling) and no other fish. The substrate is/are rocks, about 1" in diameter. I know that is probably terrible for substrate, right? I plan to change it to gravel. I inhereted it from a friend who had the rocks in there for substrate.
Anyway, I know that the GMS need calcium or there shells will corrode. The one I had seemed to be fine before he died. The pH is at about 7.7-8.1. I haven't measured since I stopped useing a pH decreaser. I don't know the Calcium levels. What is the chemical composition of calcium (I don't know if I ask that correctly or if that was jibberish, but CO2, GH, NH3 etc. e.g.)? What would it show up as on a test kit, I mean?
I know that GMS have trapdoors, so I am not worried about the cichlid killing it. It is a nice cichlid anyway (just kidding!).
Would it work?
