ghost shrimp or rcs with ramshorn snails and guppys?

i have a 55g with ramshorn snails, guppys, 2 vampire shrimp and a bn and now that my hornwort and everything else is all grown out i want a dwarf shrimp species to breed in my tank, i just wonder if one would do better than the other.

i know that not every ghost shrimp species can reproduce successfully in a fw tank, but there are species that do, and they would be cheaper than rcs, a definite bonus.

ive also read that they can aid in snail control, though my objective is not to completely eradicate, just to give me some extra help keeping numbers down. and ive also read they have been known to eat guppy fry if they can, which would be a good thing. if they can aid in keeping my poulations at least a little bit down, would they in effect be better for my tank than rcs?

im also wondering if ghost shrimp are better at competing for food against ramshorn snails than rcs are, as ive read the snails can be quite pushy when it comes to rcs. also would ghost shrimps do better at breeding in a tank with guppys than rcs?

I don't have an exact answer for you but I'll try t give you some in site. RCS reproduce fast I have a 55G with RCS and guppies at times I may have over 200 shrimp. RCS have in my opinion a much longer life span than ghost shrimp they don't really a ghost shrimp is 1yr and CRS is 2 yrs but it seems a bigger difference when the ghost shrimp don't reproduce a easy if you get CRS they will keep supplying them self. My guppies eat some of my shrimp but not enough for me to notice. I really don't know how either will do with your vampire shrimp or snails.

simply put, species only tanks are the best for survival rates.. too many unknowns; feeding schedule, water quality, temperatures....

mixing species in any given tank will limit your breeding success.

This is a great post, but my species tank kinda bores me you can have adequate results if you can match you conditions close. It really come down to what your trying to achieve.
