Post Freshwater Clams

Does anybody know any places that sell Freshwater Clams, at least places that sell them online? I live in a place called Alamosa, CO and the nearest pet store is a Petco in Pueblo which is at least a two hour drive and I'm not sure how to keep fish alive during the long drive. If anybody has kept any clams, would you please be so kind as to explain what conditions I would need to deal with, especially when it concerns my betta.

Most clams, even in saltwater setups, end up starving to death as there is simply not enough food in the water column for them.
Clams tend to live in turbid areas with a very high amount of food suspended in the water column, which is exactly the conditions that we as aquarists don't want in our tanks.
It takes a very dedicated owner to keep a lot of filter-feeders alive.
