Herefishy, thanks for heads up on clams. I saw some at LFS and was thinking of buying a couple. I would think finding them in the event one died could be problematic in soft substrate and larger tank.

The most important medication in your fish medicine cabinet is.. Clean water.

One thing to keep in mind..

Some (not all) fresh water clams produce offspring that are parasites to fish and can cause them great harm.
This has kept me from buying them myself.

I would make sure you know what you buying before you get it..
