I was thinking of feeding my snail cucumbers or something. Is this an ok food? Will it affect my water negatively? :S Do I need to boil it or anything? I couldn't find any answers on google.... T.T
It might foul your water if you leave it in there for more than, say, 12 hours. Snails generally love cucumbers. You can put it in there raw. Just weigh it down somehow. You can stab a paperclip or two through it to make it sink and the snails will munch on it until there's nothing but the rind left (sometimes they'll even eat that).
i use veggies clips or a small stone to hole it down...i havent ever used the paper clip for fork method because when mine eat it they pick the whole thing up and eat it and i would be afraid they might injure themselves.....also, in your other post about snails batman left a link with the recipe for snail jello i think and mine also love that!!
Well I tried again tonight and left it in longer and they ate the whole center out. I do think it clouds my water a bit though so I might try lettuce or something. I hear those are ok. I'll try the snail jello sometime when I feel like an experiment. XD
For lettuce, definitely go with the darker varieties. I find that veggie-loving fish and snails prefer the darker romaine leaves to, say, iceberg lettuce.
Ah, opposite of me. Iceberg is the best. less healthy but still. Anyways, I think I have some of the darker green variety so I'll try that sometime.
