I ordered that powder that was recommended to feed baby shrimp, for feeding my Bamboo Shrimp. There are no directions on the package. I emailed Alphaprobreeder, (who I bought it from) and he said to just put a "small pinch" in the tank, but I'm wondering if anyone has more specific instructions, or experience with feeding this to these guys? Should I use a syringe and put near him, or just sprinkle in the water flow, even if he's not "fanning" in front of the water?
My approach would be to put it into a small cup and add a bit of tank water, swirl it around until its all mixed into the water and then add it to the tank where circulation is high but not close to filter intake tubes. Bamboo Shrimp are filter feeding and will siphon it out of the water on their own. Be sure to keep up with water changes... as much as they need plenty of food they also need really good water quality.
I started leaving a pinch of Hikari micro pellets in a cap of tank water overnight every 2 days or so then using an eyedropper to squirt it in mountain shrimp fans. They seem fatter than usual and more colourful, really pinky orange and their cream stripe down the back seems more defined. after about 3 weeks. Although it does seem kinda frivolous, because my shrimp used to breed readily in my old busy, bustling community tank simply from scavenging with no special attention, it seems worth it.
