iv made anthoer thread i thort it was just algae. anyway my redhorn snails and apple snails shells are deterating and i want to know
A:will they live or die
B:how can i stop them from dieing
C:will this happen to future snails? if so how to stop my paramters are

got tank set up with water and plants then waited 2 weeks for abcteria to grow and coloring to go fed some fish food to nothing for alge then put shrimp and snails

Hi parrot,

Maybe it's a calcium deficiency? Did you try googling that to see if your snails have the same type of symptoms?

You can use ground up eggshells but they have to be baked first. And the cuttlebones that people put in bird cages can be washed and put into the tank as well (not sure how much you would put in, you'd have to research that).

well i have some cuttle bone i have birds hence the name i think my ph might be getting lower becuase i checked it and it was a lighter colour of ph stick but i only bought ph down because where i live water is high in alcaline so i will gomy buy some ph up and ill test ph agin ill put ome cuttle bone in. should i do a water change i havent done one water change yet as iv only had them for 4 days

so how long do i ke the cuttle bone in the tank for i put half a cuttle boen in dner gravel aprently it wont divole acoridng to members of family and if it dose it will greatly aaffect tank
