Can shrimp catch fish diseases?

Are shrimp susceptible to fish diseases? I was asking because I have a 5gal quarantine tank and it sits empty when no new or sick fish are in there. I have ghost shrimp in all my other tanks except the oscar tank and the 5gal. If they were immune some how I was hoping to have some shrimp there as well so it doesn't just sit empty.

Thanks for any input

typically the answer is no.

parasites in their free swimming stage may be trapped by the shells that contain the water, but they will be unable to propagate and will eventually die. The inverse typically holds true also.

As for shrimp in a QT tank, I wouldn't do it. If there are any meds or anything that haven't been completely flushed out then you are asking for trouble.

If you think I am too abrasive there is a little triangle icon in the bottom left of your screen to "report post".

Yeah they generally can't, but like invertplant said shrimp and med don't mix well at all.

.... I'm probably drunk.

This is how I lurk
