First I'll show picture then I'll explain so You can get your own reaction before mine. This is what I saw tonight before lights out.

I found him here soon after target feeding the female brine shrimp and mysis shrimp then put extra around the rock for him because he wasn't out yet. Then there he was on the intake! I was so sure he was stuck and at that moment he was upside down. however he didn't look like he was trying to leave the spot and on closer inspection was catching the shrimp and eating them before the filter got it.( the barbs were eating his and made a mess. ) I turned the filter off after a min to see if he could get down and he didn't but he just turned the other way pointing towards surface picking at the intake looking for food then finally he got down after 10 mn. It seems super smart way to go "fishing" for that little guy ( he is about 3inches-ish) but I should I trust him there? Does anyone think he maybe needs a temp "babygate" like a shrimp guard for the intake?

He's adorable! wow! How did he fit through the openings in the intake?? A sponge filter wouldn't be a bad idea, and he can pick the food off of that. Hmmmm. If he got bigger and got stuck, that could be a problem for him:shock:

I ordered a shrimp guard. He has actually molted 2 times since I posted this so he is bigger now but now that he knows to do that I worry about his legs because he keeps going up there. He wasn't exactly in it... just reaching with the small back pinchers through it to hold himself in place and grap food. But if he gets startled by the girl I could see him moving too fast and snapping a leg off :-( She never raises her claws at him and is peaceful towards him but he still freaks out when she is too close during feeding time. I've seen him actually drop some food kinda close to her then run away
