They do look nicer. THey should be ok with plants as they don't even eat algae but I'm not sure. Wait until someone with more knowledge answers.

Good Luck

Assassin snails are fine in planted tanks, and many planted tank keepers use them to keep populations of "pest" snails under control. They are carnivores, so they won't eat plants.

I personally had 3 assassin snails in my planted tank and they were fine. My plants were ok as well.

I like both snails but they do 2 completely different things. I love my mts I keep them in all my planted and sand tanks they keep the sand/bottom aerated eat dead or decaying plants/food and algae I think they are a great addition to any tank. The assassins are fun to watch but in less your trying to rid your tank of snails I don't see much benefit to your aquarium from them. Mts actually benefit your aquarium, also if you don't have a large snail population you will end up having to buy snails for the assassins.

My assassin snails don't eat pest snails. They'll only eat frozen bloodworms. :/
