I'm fairly new to snail keeping as well. I feed mine zuccini, cucumber, algae wafers, spinach and I supplement with half a calcium pill every other day. They will also eat whatever fish food accumulates on the bottom. I had a problem with my gold snail's shell getting thin because my water is not hard enough. They need calcium and hard water to keep their shells in good shape. I have live plants in my smaller tank and my gold snail will clean the algae off the leaves but the only leaves he munches on are the dead or dying leaves on my crypts. He seems to leave the anubias, java fern and anacharis alone. I've read that Brigs do not eat plants but Canas do. However, most snails you buy at the pet stores I believe are usually Brigs. There are some members on this forum who have alot more experience with snails than I do. Hopefully they can chime in also.
