Am I crazy?

I have kept a apple snail for a few years now. I feed him lettuce, carrots, green beans, peas, zuchinni, grapes, apples, pears, etc. I also house a crayfish with him. The other day I had fed a small "rosie" to the crayfish. He did not come out for the fish. The fish had sat for about an hour on the bottom of the tank. Then I noticed the apple snail heading for the "rosie" at break neck speed! LOL The apple snail ate the feeder fish! DO I have the only carnivorous apple snail in the world? Not that I mind it was really cool to see the snail engulf the small fish! Who knew? Or am I just crazy?

Thats is the true usefulness of the Mystery/Apple snail. They will eat dead fish, dead plant matter, other dead snails and any type of food that you throw in there pretty much. The all around clean up artist for most purposes except the one we always seek them out for, eating alage.

Mine mysteries eat the pond snails I smash, ramshorns that die, all types of fish food, lots of different green veggies, prawns, and I would bet a lot of other things I have not tried yet.

But, Chris, his rosie feeder is not exactly dead. That's why I myself got into a shocked expression seeing as the OP described the way the snail preyed on a fish.
Now, that's a monster snail.

Well I didn't go into the more morbid things I have seen but will tell you about them if you really want to hear them. Just not in a post.

I wish mine would eat the hydras and even the ponds snails I have. Maybe I need to starve then for 3-4 days and make them mad enough to eat them. (Just kidding but I really hate hydra right now)
