advice for setting up snail tank & OK to add frogs?

I had to move my new golden apple snail (brigs not cana) into it's own little tank. It was originally in with my male betta in the 5 gal. tank, but he was bullying it (kept swimming over near it and wouldn't let it move/feed, though I never saw any overt aggression).

It's in an almost 2 gal. hex tank, no heater, no filter. Temp is 70 during the day, a bit lower at night. Mr. Snail (or maybe Ms., I don't know for sure) settled in and even ate some zucchini the first night (last night.) Substrate is crushed coral.

What else can I do for the tank to make Mr. Snail comfy? I was thinking of adding a java fern. Does it need a cave or any place to hide?

I plan to eventually upgrade the betta into a 10 gal so the snail will inherit the 5 gal. Money is tight, so it might be a while.

Would it be too much to add two african dwarf frogs (not the clawed ones) in with the snail? I'm already planning to do frequent water changes, so that's not an issue. What do the frogs need to make them happy?

Any thoughts?
