There I was minding my own business

On a dog forum (I have 4 ) and someone posted pictures of her gorgeous planted aquariums. I've had aquariums on and off but except for two goldfish, had not thought of aquariums for years.

The pictures unlocked the up-to-then somnolent aquarist in me. So now besides the goldfish, I've set up two 10 gallon tanks that I will plant low tech.

I am a retired Texas nurse, love critters, love people. I recently moved into a very tiny house that is easier for me to take care of.

I love: dogs, cats, reptiles, daylilies, Star Trek Next Gen, lasagna, Blue Bell ice cream, cannoli, pizza (Nature's most perfect food, Shiner, old timey houses.

Y'all have a wonderful board!!

i hope you enjoy your new hobby.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. [unknown source]

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]
