:wink3:Hi Everyone!
I just transferred my 2 guppies and 3 neon tetras to a 10 gallon aquarium and they are doing great! I would like to add 1 or 2 new fish (Preferably from the same species because I am still quite a novice and I don't want to create and crowding issues, especially having already dealt with that recently.) I would like to get some advice on how many fish I can add and how to add the new fish so that the others would include them and not pick on them. I would like an answer from someone with some experience and not from someone who has just based their knowledge off a calculator. (Sorry for being so demanding but I really like to do thorough research before acting from somewhat credible sources.) THANK YOU ALL!!! (My 10 gallon tank is attached below.)

Welcome to the group.

As far as adding new fish I suggest quarantining the new fish for 30 days to be sure they are healthy before adding them to the tank. The reason is you don't to make the current fish sick. Many people don't do this and it might work fine for years but sooner or later you will bring something in and lose fish, I have done it before so I quarantine everything.

When it comes to adding the new fish to the tank the guppies won't bother each other much and the Neon will be happy they have more buddies in the tank.

I have keep 8-10 guppies in a 10g tank no issues just make sure the filter is rated higher then the 10g. Neon and guppies are about the same size so you could do 8-10 fish total in the tank no problem.

Also very nice tank and it does look like you have 2 male guppies so be sure if you add more they are male or at least add 2-3 females for every male.

I don't think it would be over stocked. If it was me I would get 3 that would give you a school of 6 and most tetras like 5-6+ in a group, having the extra means if you ever lose one the group still has 5.

What filter are you using on the tank? I like to run a filter that is rated higher then the tank so you have more media (move bacteria room).

The main thing is after you have all the fish in the tank and everyone is happy test the water for Nitrate. This will tell you how much waste the fish are producing, then when you do a water change (wait 12hours) and test it again this will tell you how much Nitrates you removed with the water change. Nitrates should be less than 20 so after the water change if they are higher then that you can do larger water changes or do them more often (twice a week). The higher the stock level of the tank the more water changes you have to do.

That filter should do fine. I'm sure the current neon will be fine with new fish. A trick cichlid keepers do is move the decor around when you add me fish. This resets the tank territories and makes asking new fish no issue.

That amount of water should be plenty for that stocking.
