Id worry about the cichlid nipping a paradise fishes fins more than id worry about the cichlid. What reallysuggest for you is to get a bigger tank, 29 gallons at least it will be much better for you and your fish. Dimensions I think are 30"x18" and 12" front to back; just enough room to work with!

But i just got this one... I'll stick with a betta since it requires 5 gallons only and should be happy in a 10. I got a new plant and a better aieration system to prepare for a new fish. I also added some shells which i have been soaking for a week and the plant to. I think Iam ready for the betta now, bettas are top dwellers so they wont interfere with crayfish anyways. So its fine?
