Hi have just set up a small tank for my daughter and wanting to set up a tank for myself (waiting for the right one to come along). Surprised how much there is to learn and also surprised at how much time you spend just watching fish, anyway looking forward to learning and hopefully having a successsful and healthy tank, love reading other peoples hints and advice, thanks

Welcome to the forum! I'm sure your daughter will love the new tank!

I got the itch to start keeping fish about a couple months ago and was as green as they come! I could not believe how much was actually involved with it! But I've been having a blast, and this forum has really helped me and steered me in the right direction (unlike certain national chain petstores...). The people here are very knowledgeable and willing to help.

Hi and Welcome to the forum Corry!

I agree and can spend hours just watching my fish...so relaxing and they are constantly amazing me or making me laugh.

hello and welcome.
say hello to the hobby and goodbye to your wallet.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

if you are trying to save money, its better to ask the forums for suggestions before you buy things. many things can by DIY and cost a ton cheaper. if i had known this stuff i would have saved about $2000 on a small tank :(
