Hi, everyone,

I just joined and am a beginner. I have a 20 Gallon Tall tank and I'm doing a fishless cycle now. I've learned a lot and hope to learn a lot more.

Thanks!

Welcome. Best of luck. Fishless cycle is always best. If you want to speed things along obtain seeded material from a healthy tank. I have used active filters from AngelPlus and recommend them if you decide to go that route. Only other advice is always have a quarantine tank for new fish once you've established a tank.

Welcome and good job doing the fishless cycle. Just make sure that you don't jump the gun. Sometimes it takes longer than it should and you just have to wait it out.

I agree, adding some stuff from an already cycled tank will cut your time short considerably. Filter media is the best thing to use - stick it in your filter. You can also use gravel, placing it both in the filter and on top of the substrate. Putting them in mesh bags of some sort makes it much easier to contain and remove. A piece of decor will also help. If you add enough seeded stuff, and have a light enough bioload, you can instantaneously cycle the tank.

I also agree 1000% on the quarantine tank. You will surely save yourself some major headaches, and cash, if you invest in a quarantine setup.
