Greetings, after a almost 40 year absence from tropical fish I am back. My grandchildren mentioned tropical fish and that's all it took. I have purchased a 26 gallon tank (kit). I set it up today by adding gravel and water, hooking up filter and heater. Now comes the cycling process. Looking forward to going forward with a community tank.

Hello and welcome to the forum

What type of fish are you thinking of stocking the tank with?

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

Haven't really decided yet. My past experience was with Guppies, Mollie and the rest of the live bearers . They seemed quite easy to keep and could be had at a reasonable price. Not into buying expensive fish with my lack of first hand experience.

i have 5 grandchildren..and one of them has a robo fish with bowl
for christmas…i willllllllll make a fish keeper out of one of them

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.
