I recently joined these forums. I have been keeping and taking care of aquariums since my dad bought me my first aquarium when I was 7. Twenty years later, I am still keeping up the hobby. However, I never transitioned it into a full time professional hobby until lately. I have always been interested in fish and the different ways to decorate an aquarium.
As for me, I currently live in Kumamoto, Japan where I teach English to elementary school and junior high school students. I also have adult conversation classes in the evening twice a week. I have been doing this job for three years so far and I love the job, I love where I live, and I love the people. I first started with one 50 gallon tank but, somehow, I have managed to squeeze in four tanks into my already crowded apartment. My apartment has taken the nickname of "The Aquarium" among friends. As well, I attribute my aquariums to how I met my fiance. I met my future fiance when I first arrived through friends. We shared a common interest in pets and, through that, our relationship blossomed. She has a chipmunk, a hedgehog, and a 25 gallon with various tetras. We instantly bonded and started dating within months. As well, finding tropical fish stores and talking to employees in Japanese concerning the fish hobby has been both a difficult and rewarding experience. Researching and studying the Japanese word for ich, pH, etc has been a challenge.
I am fairly busy but I would like to be proactive on these boards. While I have been in the aquarium hobby for a long time, I do not consider myself anywhere near a professional or expert in the field. I hope to learn a lot on these forums and improve my skill in the hobby.
Thanks for reading and I am sorry for such a long introduction post.
