First it sounds like you are over stocked. The fish you have now may be small enough to fit in there but they will all grow quite a bit. The convicts I know from personal experience are very territorial and aggressive toward anything, this includes their own species. Even if your tank is a 20 long (30 inches long by 12 inches tall and wide) you are going to have to remove some of your fish. Find out what the yellow strip is and start by comparing the fish's water requirements with your available water and what you are willing to do to make it perfect. FYI adjusting waterto suit your fish is a learning curve. You and your fish are much better off adjusting your fish to your water.
Now to your actual question I always fed my cichlids once a day. Flakes are too good for cichlids, pellets are better. I would get blood worms as well. Something I did for my convicts was I would catch local fish clean, cook and mince the flesh freeze it and give them chuncks once a week, grocery store variety are safer. Only give the protein foods no more than 3 times a week or they will get used to it and some will go to waste and the fish will get fat
