It does suck to put all that work in, only to loose a pet! When we moved here we had 4 dogs, 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs and 2 kids all packed into a minivan... Talk about a fun trip, we stopped every 3-4 hours for breaks and stayed in hotels 4 nights before finally getting to our new place. It was all worth it though, aside from the other fish we made sure to bring along all our pets.

Although i have had to deal with loosing 2 dogs and 1 cat in the last 3 years, no fun at all. My oldest dog, Sable (hence the username) died in 2009 from cancer, she was my world, i loved that dog like you cannot imagine, the next year I lost her son Riken, the one pup i kept from her, to Bloat (a twisted stomach) we made it in time for surgery and it looked hopeful, but he never recovered from anesthesia... our cat Kalani died from old age, she was 19 years old, and was the best cat I have ever had!

sorry about your losses, unless you are a pet person you can never
imagine the heartache that you feel.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

It is always hard to lose a pet, either having to rehome them or when they pass. Early this spring I ended up having to rehome my rat terrier, great dog, but he needed to have someone around 24-7 something which I could not provide. It was heart breaking when I had to make that decision. With my cat who is now almost 12 years old, I don't even want to think of the day when I will not have him anymore. I have always found that my pets become part of the family.
