New member here, stumbled upon this site after doing some research on making a cichlid tank. Very informative and lots of stuff to read. I have had aquariums most of my life and just aquired a nice 55 gal(used but pretty nice after some cleaning!) tank that I will be making into a cichlid tank. Pics to follow after I get it all setup.

Hello and welcome to TFK

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. [unknown source]

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]

hello and welcome.
look forward to the pictures.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.
