It's a bit lat, but i chose 16-21. I bought my first tank when i was 17, but my family has had fishtanks since i was around 4. I didn't really do any of the mantinence, just a bit here and there.
4 in Earth years. My parents encouraged me to try this hobby as they also had been there before but I started maintaining my own tanks when I reached 6-7 (if I can remember this right). That's surprisingly too early but as I am too obsessed with fish, I took most of my free time visiting the stores and learn firsthand from a friend who ran a store just near my house. I had my breaks from time to time due to school and other personal activities.
At sixteen and fresh from reform school,, My mother and stepfather got me a 55gal for my bitrhday instead of the Camaro I wanted. From there , I have dabbled at fishkeeping. My first fish, were a Jack Dempsey and a Red Oscar .
Funny,, at sixteen I thought my parents were quite possibly,,The dumbest folks on earth. the older I got,, the more I realized how smart they actually were. My stepfather passed away last year. My sainted mother,, god bless her ,, is still with me.
My parents started me on fish as a replacement for a puppy (it didn't work). I was quite young, and have been interested in fish since. Just recently have I started the hobby again, but I feel like I never stopped.
5 my first fish was a black moor goldfish i got my first tropicals about 12ish from a small aqatics shop that was closing down i boght a second hand tank ,heater and airpump the tank the tank was part of the stores display and had been in use the day before
it came with gravel and undergravel filter ..and my first trumpet snails in the gravel (whos decendants i still have) but i had no money for fish so the owner gave me a group of guppies and a small fish i later id-ed as a female betta to get started
