Talking Hiya!~

Hello! I thought I'd introduce myself and talk about how we got into fishkeeping.

*Story*
We (my dad and I) got off to a bumpy start. We started with a 55g for my last birthday. My dad got it for me, thinking we'd throw in water & fish and be done with it. While I had read on fish-less cycling, I did not get a chance to perform this as my dad surprised me with 3 feeder goldfish.
One died within the next few days. We decided to make a trip about an hour and a half away to some non chain fish stores. One of them talked us into buying a dozen more feeders as the ones we had apparently would not put a 'dent' in our cycle.

So home we went with 11 more feeders to add to our tank (they fed the 12th one to a triggerfish I think it was as they miscounted).

Everything was fine for a day or two, then we found a few of them had gotten ick. We went to Petco to get advice. They gave us one of the betta cups and said to fill it with aquarium salt and set in the tank to allow it to slowly release and told us to bump the heat up.
Over the next week I woke up each day to find more goldies dead and others worse-looking than the day before. They all eventually passed and we replaced the filter media and cleaned the gravel in hot water (bonus of this happening..we were over excited when first setting up the tank and forgot to rinse the gravel!)

After this we tested the water and, since it read 0 ammonia and 0 nitrites..we thought it was fine. It hadn't quite clicked yet that I needed ammonia to rise and then fall and so on.
So..we went to Petco, and came home with some rummynose tetras! As you can imagine we went through a LOT of these. I tested daily though and I never saw ammonia or nitrite rise. We had live plants and some filter media from a friend I met on another forum.

From then on we added fish slowly, always testing. Never seeing anything rise. The only fish to ever give us a problem were the rummies and I assume that's because they are a sensitive specie. Their nose colors never changed though.

Everything is stable and has been since about summertime or early fall, now we're up to 6 tanks, and my dad says that's it but we'll see :P
*Story End*

Our tanks are as follows:
129g - Water (Will be 1 Black Ghost Knife, 1 Leopard Ctenopoma, 1 Striped Peacock Eel, 2 Angelfish, 3 Bichirs [Delhezi, Palmas Palmas, Palmas Buettikoferi])

55g - 1 Golden Gourami {Tinkerbell}, 15 Rummynose Tetras, 7 Albino Cories, 1 Habrosus Cory [Reason for this],7 Khuli Loaches, 1 Guppy [F], 1 Longfin Albino BN Pleco, 1 Bamboo Shrimp, 1 Blue Mystery Snail {Turbo}, and 1 Angelfish that will be going into the 129 when it's ready.

20g Long - CT Betta {Discord}, 4 Sterbai Cories (Will be getting 2 more), Baby Mystery Snails

20g Flatback Hex - 2 Peacock Gudgeons [1M:1F], 9 Neon Tetras, 9 Spotted Blue-Eyes [Pseudomugil Gertrudae], 1 Longfin Leucistic BN Plec

10g - Water (Will be 1 Striped Red-Eye Puffer [Carinotetraodon Salivator])

5g - 2 Fundulopanchax Gardneri Killifish [1M:1F], 1 Zebra Nerite Snail

I hope to somewhat fit in and possibly help others with the knowledge I've gained over the past year.

HERE is a link to a picture thread I'll be posting same time as this. I wanted to show pics but not bog the intro down with them. Thanks for reading!

Thank you! They're silly fishies. The male is usually in a decoration and pokes his head out when I come up to the tank. <3

Awww yay! I hope ya'll enjoy them
The tank mine are in is the only tank that every inhabitant swarms to the top for feeding time..except for the pleco. So I really love that tank. ^-^
