Hi, and thanks for all the advice so far!

Hello all,

Having been raiding the forum here for weeks now while learning the fishkeeping ropes, I finally decided to quit lurking and actually join.

Don't know how I got hooked so quickly - I've Bern living with my sister after losing my job, and I only went with her to the fish shop to help buy some new bulbs. One chat with an enthusiastic staff member later, and having fallen for some fab dancing shrimp, and I'm obsessed! I've taken over the care of my sister's 120ltr guppy tank, and am in the middle of aquascaping my first 60ltr one of my own. I'll be posting a journal of my progress. Focusing on scaping and plants to start with, so have no idea what stock I'll be adding. Probably any number of things I've taken a shine to, but would shred guppy fins!

I never did get the shrimp though - they're high maintenance marine ones. One day, maybe.

Also, I have an open post about a sick gourami if anyone would be kind enough to chip in. Thanks!

powder blue gourami with bad fin rot - when to let go?

Hmmmm... how about a tank water martini? One part vodka, one part Seachem Prime water conditioner, two parts tank water.

Pour over ice and shake :) Garnish with algae flakes.

hello

Is this your first tank.ever? That's great! Please keep us posted as your project proresses. Lots of people here that really know there stuff. I've learned so much here.

Yes. Fishkeeping is a disease, so be careful or you might end up with a serious case of MTS. Its a progressive disorder that starts with buying a couple fish here and there, and leads to multiple large fishtanks. Its contagious; you probaly caught it from browsing the posts!

A disease you say? *discreetly tips tank cocktail into a nearby plant pot* :)

The 65ltr tank will be my very first project from scratch. I've landscaped it over the weekend. I wanted a cave! And, so far, it has a huge cave taking up 3/4 of the tank, which hasn't fallen in yet. Progress!

Now I'm making final decisions on plants and a fish wish list. The latter, sadly, is getting far longer than this tank could ever accommodate, though. Yeah. I can see why this is catching.
