Hi From San Diego

Hi all,

First time I've visited this site - looks like a lot of knowledgeable people here.

I hope I can ask this here: Is there a cycling forum? Or does anyone have a good link to a forum where I can learn more about it? Just bought a used 55g tank and now don't know what to do with it but I know I need to cycle it. I think.

Anyway, it's good to be here.

Hello and welcome to the forum

We do have a guide to cycling in the freshwater aquarium section. Here's the link for you.

Good luck and ask as many questions as you need to along the way.

Hi and welcome! You might want to look into a planted tank. Planted tanks don't really need to be cycled.

Thanks everybody - successfully launched the tank and everyone is healthy and happy. Ecstatic actually.

Welcome from the east but soon to be in San Diego! I'll soon be in your hood shopping in your fish stores. Great place to be in this hobby. Where are you stocking from? I heard I need to be checking out Pet Kingdom... ??( Is this a good place you think?) Anyway welcome to this forum!

I hope people won't laugh at me for disclosing this but mostly from Walmart - LOL

If you want to go to a 5 star pet store, Pet Kingdom is it. You will pay top dollar though. There is a PetSmart right around the corner from there on Rosecrans and they have a great fish section and the girl there is real helpful. I got a rubbernose pleco there last month and it cleaned out all the algae just like she said it would.

But my crab, Zippy, ate him while I was in Bolivia a couple weeks ago. Very disappointing. Everybody seemed to be getting along just fine and then my assistant said all of a sudden there was a big uproar. Now Zippy is sick. I wonder if plecos are poisonous?

What's the reason for the relocation?

Thanks.. Not relocating. I stay in San Diego and in West Hollywood a few weeks a yr. Lots of friends and family out there. I enjoy the area alot (actually my avi was taken in San Diego bay near Coronado bridge)..Tons to do in San Diego. I can't sit still really. lol I am everywhere.
I figured it would be a little expensive. Thats alright, I want to see what all the talk is about with that store.
BTW sorry about the pleco
