Hi Everyone

I am a new member. I have bad luck with fish, my goldfish dead the next day after buying them. So I bought a Betta fish and i don't want it to die. I know i need a heater for my tank but cant afford one right now. Will my Betta fish still be fine without one? Until i can get one.

I had that same problem with goldies for awhile, and then I figured out that they need more room and more frequent water changes. A betta should be fine without a heater, and they are very hardy fish so it shouldn't die the next day.

Something smells fishy

Welcome to TFK!

I'm not an expert on Betta's but realize they're often kept in very small bowls. Please consider getting a tank so the fish can swim.

Welcome to TFK also.

Again, am not an expert in Bettas and depending on the size of the bowl / tank it is now and whether your house stays relatively warm, it may not need a heater. It would though be beneficial to look into getting a small 10g tank with a heater to allow it extra room to swim.

If you need advice, please do not hesitate to ask as our members will offer assistance.

10g Fry / Hospital / QT tank (as needed)

75g Saltwater Reef, Ocellaris Clownfish, Lyretail Antias (baby), Lemon damsel, Longtail Fairy Wrasse, purple dottyback, snails, crabs and a few LPS corals.

220g Still sitting empty (come on Lottery I need the numbers to come up!)

hello and welcome.
hope you have better luck this time around.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.
