Hi from Ames Iowa

Greetings, I'm Jim from Ames Iowa. I've kept all kinds of freshwater tropical fish throughout the years though I'm partial to cichlids, even more partial to new world cichlids and even more partial to oscars. Presently I have just the one oscar, Betelgeuse, at this writing about 6 months old.

Welcome to TFK, Jim. That's probably one of the nicest Oscars I've ever seen!

Why thank you, I'm sure Betelgeuse (the oscar) would agree with you.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]

That is one great looking fish!!

Welcome to the forum.

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

Thank You

I took the pic from above through the water with the lid open. No matter what I did I couldn't eliminate that line of light across the pic but it isn't too bad.
