Hello Jim, welcome to TFK forum.

Chocolate Gourami are lovely; I had a group of both species, the more common Sphaerichthys osphromenoides and the near-identical Sphaerichthys selatanensis and the first spawned often over several months and some fry survived among the floating plants. I had several generations until quite suddenly something wiped them out. As I'm sure you know, they are very sensitive fish and prone to skin issues.

Which species have you?

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If youíre going to take it under your wing then youíre responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]

I have the Sphaerichthys Osphromenoides. It took me a long time to get the tank right so they would stay a live. I have had the ones I got now for all most a year. They are a lot of work. 10% water change every day. Have 2 Males and 8 Female.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.
