Talking Hi!

Hi - My husband & I are just learning how to take care of aquariums. We started with 5g tank with a Betta (Poseidon) and African Dwarf Frog (Hades). The Betta was eating ALL the food so we had to get a new tank for froggie even though Poseidon misses the extra treats.
Hades is now in a 10g tank with a new frog to keep him company (the new guy is Aries ). We also got a Mystery Snail for the tank, I think it's a ramshead snail. The frogs danced in their new tank for hours and looked like they were having fun, and the snail was all over the place, especially loving the volcano bubbler. Now the new frog is in hiding, the "old" frog is lazily floating or roaming the tank, and I'm not sure if the snail is even alive (I moved him before going to bed, and he's in a new spot now but still on his side). The new tank is going to worry me sick! I didn't know what to expect from the frogs since the first one always hid from our crazy bottom-lurker betta.
At least the betta is happy for sure! We have a lot to learn and I keep finding myself on this site, so Hello out there!

Hello, and welcome to the forum! :)

Hello! I'm a former fishkeeper and bettafish.com-er with a rekindled interest in the betta hobby. I don't have any bettas currently, but I'm brushing up on my fishkeeping knowledge with the intention of eventually bringing home another finned friend. ^_^

hello and welcome to you both.
hope you'll be very happy here.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

Hello and welcome to the forum

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

Welcome !

My ADFs aren't very active except at feeding time. I don't think that's an issue in itself. Can you provide a little info about your tank and your maintenance schedule (equipment, water changes, how you set up tank, etc.) ? Thanks.

I added my tank info to my profile -- we clean the Betta 5g tank once a week, and the 10g tank about 3 times a week, after feeding frozen blood worms - those are WAY messy! I need to figure out how to upload a pic on here, got some great ones today!
Saw my first ADF, Hades, molting a few days ago, that was priceless! If I'm ever lucky enough to catch that again, I'm going to record it!

Hope this works -- my fish and frogs! Peapod is a Pea (Pygmy) Puffer - he's still young and in the tank with the frogs, but I am keeping an eye on him and have a tank if he doesnt work out with the ADF's

Oh and an update on my mystery snail - the weirdo ate himself to death
