Hey Ya'll

My husband and I are new to the world of aquariums. My husband is an avid scuba diver and has always had a love for aquatic life. I have slowly become engrossed with the life style as well. A few years ago we moved and have not had the chance to enjoy the sea as much as before and therefore decided to bring the ocean to us. After lots of research and planning, we decided that while having a salt water tank would be awesome we would start out with a tropical freshwater tank instead. Therefore, two months ago we purchased a 55 gal tank for our living room.

Thus far it has been an adventure. I have lived on these forums trying to figure out each new problem as it came along. Finally I decided to join.

hello and welcome. :)

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

16 gallon - 11 neon tetras, 6 Pygmy cories, 6 kuhli loaches and 1 male Betta
15 gallon - 1 male Betta, 3 platies, and 5 guppies
6 gallon - 1 male Betta

All planted tanks

In My Opinion a Betta deserves nothing smaller than a 5 gallon tank

Hi Warr and welcome to TFK

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]
