Hello, I'm Heather

Hi everyone,
I just joined today, but I've been browsing this forum for about a year now. I've never felt the urge to join because every time I was here, it was to find information I was looking for without making a new thread.

My name is Heather, I'm 23, and from Southern California. My first experiences with fish were not great ones, Petco was having issue with their tanks when I got my first few fish and they never lived more than a few days. I did everything right and they kept dying on me. I felt horrible, feeling like it was my fault even though I was assured by friends and even a Petco employee that it wasn't me. It took me 8 years to get the confidence to take on fish again. My sister bought 2 betta fish and they lived longer than she expected, so I took them so they would get the proper care. Those lived another 6 months or so and I felt confident again. After the first betta died, I bought the other a 14 gallon tank and he LOVED it. After he passed, I took a break from fish until my boyfriend pleaded with me to get more (he loves fish). We now have 2 silver molly fish, 2 bloodfin tetra, and 3 Pristella tetra.

The sad thing I have to report is I'm looking to rehome my fish because my boyfriend is in the military and I will be moving across the country. I don't want to put the fish through the long and hot trip, so for their safety, I want to find them a great home. I will be getting fish one day when we're stationed at a long term place, this next phase of training is 6 months before we have to pack up and move again. I hope to post around here more, I still love fish

I was going to put the fish up on Craigs List, but I honestly don't trust people to properly care for them. I know this would be the PERFECT place to find a great home for them.

Welcome to the forum Heather! I wouldn't discount craigslist so easily. I'm constantly perusing craigslist, as are alot of other fellow aquarists. I'd offer to take them but can't as my tanks are stuffed to the gills. Someone posted the other day about the San Diego Tropical Fish Society. Maybe you can google that and post onto that site??

Hello Heather and welcome to FishForum!
I hope you find a good home for your fish, I to search craigslist, and freecycle all the time for aquarium parts, fish, tank supplies and plants. You would be amazed at what you can find on there. Never hurts to ask the person who wants your fish what kind of home they have to offer.
