Talking Hello All!

My name is Laurin-Anne, and as of yesterday, I have two beautiful juvenile Jewel Cichlid named Kimchi and Yakatori

At this moment, they're both fascinated with their reflections in the glass XD

My tank page is here: ~*~Fishland~*~ - 10 gallon Freshwater fish tank (I'll be upgrading their tank as they get bigger)

Last July, my parents made me rehome my two rabbits because they said I cared too much about them. They were like my children, and I still get emotional when I think about them. I did the best I could for them in the end and made sure they found good homes. I don't think I'll ever forgive my parents for taking them away.

I've never not had pets. I like having someone to look after and talk to. After much resistance, my parents agreed I could have a fish. And that is how I came to adopt lil Kimchi and Yakatori!

Oh cool! What kind of Cichlids do you have? I didn't know they were strong enough to break open snail shells. How do they do it?

Yep, well I am not sure the kind but I will take pictures of them and upload them. Well, I just drop unwanted snails in their tank because they are pests to my tanks, the cichlids attack it and just swallow it whole and start munching =3

Smile Hi Laurin-Anne...

Welcome to the forum. Love the names of your fish.

That is very sad about your rabbits....perhaps there was more to it than just "you caring too much for them" and your parents didn't want to or couldn't tell you. Does seem very mean if that was the only reason.

hello and welcome.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

At the advice of Byron, I returned the two Jewel Cichlids. I'll miss them, but they'll be much happier when someone can give them a larger tank.

I instead bought a Crowntail Betta. I've named him Cozmo and he's settled in nicely

Delta Betta
Zelo
2/4/12 -

Crowntail Betta

Cozmo
R.I.P 9/12/11 - 2/2/12

Good choice and with bettas they have so much personality. With him being in a 10 gallon tank he will think he is in heaven
