Hello All

My wife and I got a 65 gallon tank over the weekend. New to the hobby and excited about joining the site. I'm thinking of doing South American Cichlid's but not entirely sure yet.

hello and welcome to you and wifey
i hope you'll be very happy with us here, and find all the information
you want and need,.....if not, just ask

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

I think I may need help on what fish to get. I'm definately leaning towards American cichlid's. I want to have as large a variety as my tank can comfortably hold. So far the ones I found that I like the most are: Firemouth Cichlid, Black Convict Cichlid, German Blue Ram, Green Terror, Apistogramma, and Salvini Cichlid. I know that I probably can't do all of those at once. What I'm needing is what combo would work, how many of each can I have, what would be good complimentary fish to include (ie algae eater, other smaller fish to fill out the tank).

thanks again for the warm welcome :)
