Greetings from central Canada

Geez.... first posting and already I did it wrong. Should of posted a new thread and not just reply to another....

But anyways....

Hi all,

I live and work in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Which for those who care to look it up on a map, is on the prairies in central Canada.

I've been keeping freshwater fish on and off for over 30+ years and while I never usually have more than two tanks going, I've run them in size from 10 gals up to 120 gals.

Currently I'm running a 55 gal community tank. Filtration is through an external canister (Eheim), lighting is with 2x 18" 15Watt Hagen Power-Glo lamps. Not a lot of illumination for heavy plant growth but my Java Ferns do well.

It is currently stocked with 5 Australian Rainbows, probably a dozen Kribensis (they once started as a single pair) and a trio of Yo-yo loaches, and 2 lone zebra danios (the danios are "visiting" from my son's 3 gal tank setup while we fix a broken pump).

Been having an issue with algae lately (I actually think it's the blue-green .. slimy, sheety, stuff) so will be posting looking for some guidance.

Looking forward to corresponding and sharing with other fish enthusiasts.

Talk to you soon.

... Bill

Welcome to the forum, Bill. Nice to have you join us. Do you have any pics of the Kribs? Would love to see them, if you do. Yoyos...GREAT fish. I have them, I love them. :)

If you don't stand up for something you'll fall for anything...

+1 for pics of the kribs.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.
